Proper Seal on a Windshield

Every now and again, we come across a windshield replacement that has had some pretty poor workmanship in the past.

Today, we did a windshield replacement in Whitby for a GMC Sierra that had quite a few issues that extended beyond a crack.

Whoever installed this windshield previously made some critical errors and apparently tried to cover it up as well.

The image above is what the seal looked like after removing the glass. Ideally, it should only be about and inch thick and be steady all the way around.

This seal has about four times the amount of glue necessary and they still managed to break the seal.

To make things worse, they even managed the miss the seal entirely in the middle of the glass. From the looks of it, they ran out of urethane (adhesive) before they could finish the job.
